Sumit Kumar is a Family law specialist based in the Canterbury region. Sumit was admitted to the bar in 2015 and has worked in both government and private sectors. Prior to establishing Sumit Kumar Law, Sumit was leading the family team at a large firm. Sumit is an experienced lawyer working with complex relationship property assets which include trusts, companies and multiple properties. We can also help draw up a comprehensive Contracting Out Agreement (Pre-nup) and property sharing agreement so you can have financial stability knowing your assets are protected from claims under the Property Relationships Act.

We can assist with all matters relating to the care of children which inculde parenting agreements, applciations to the court for day to day care, guardianship issues, relocation, paternity, order preventing removal and adoption. We can also assit with Oranga Tamariki matters and provide advise in relation to the Family Dispute Resoution process.

Having a will and Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) is an important document to have regardless of your age. We can assist you in the preparation of your will and EPA. We can advise you on obtaining orders under the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act for family members that may lack mental capacity and assist you with making an application if necessary.
